Following the retirement of Tom Atack, Grant and McAllin has been handed over to another family business. The team and facilities remain the same and Burrows Motor Company will continue to run the MG and SsangYong franchises.
Owner of Grant & McAllin, Tom Atack, has retired after having found another family-owned business to take over looking after his customers. New owner, Steve Burrows, has been friends with Tom for over 30 years and shares the same customer service values that the previous owner held dear, making family-owned, Yorkshire-based Burrows Motor Company the best business to take over the running of the dealership in Rother Valley Way, which includes the SsangYong and MG franchises.
While SsangYong and MG will now come under the Burrows Motor Company umbrella locally, the S20 postcode site will also form the launch pad for the new Burrows Mint Cars brand, which is focused on providing high quality, used vehicles. The name was inspired by Steve's admiration for the Grant & McAllin team's fresh approach to selling cars and their commitment to high quality in checking and preparing the cars for sale.
However, while the name of the dealership has changed, not much else has; the same faces are still there, Garry and John in sales, Carl, Mark and Maxine in service, and of course the technician and valet teams all remain in place. Nothing has changed with regard to customer vehicles either, with warranties remaining in place, and MOTs – including Class 7 MOTs – and annual services will also continue on the same premises with the same team.
Speaking of the acquisition, Tom Atack said: "I know that the customer service that Steve and his team deliver from Burrows Motor Company is second to none, so I know that Grant & McAllin customers will continue to receive the best of attention."
Steve Burrows added: "I'm delighted that Burrows ownership has given Tom the peace of mind he needed to take his well-deserved retirement and hope he enjoys more time with his family. Burrows Motor Company is committed to delivering great value and high quality to car buyers in the region. These qualities are even more important for customers looking to buy a used car, so we're excited about the launch of Burrows Mint Cars.
"We're confident that Burrows Mint Cars will become synonymous with high quality, used cars for drivers in Yorkshire and beyond. We will be stocking a variety of cars, including a strong range of prestige vehicles such as Audi, BMW, Landrover and Mercedes, and believe that our customer service and the continued excellent standard of preparation undertaken by the former Grant & McAllin team, will deliver a fresh approach to the used car industry."
